SXSW part 2

Yes, the festival is over now and we all had a great time. Everybody is in recovering mode now, and I kicked my own behind to write this post tonight ;-) Tomorrow we are going to start the shooting of the new AUDECY video. We got a very nice set and I am pretty exited about it. But first, more from SXSW!

The highlight for me was my own street gig, we set up our gear on the street, got power from a lebanese food place and rocked out!

I was wandering around and shooting pictures of bands that I liked, so I'm just gonna post some here, you can get and idea about how busy it was, how many bands and how many people. I have seen really great stuff on the festival. Wow! Music lovers from everywhere, this would blow your mind...

SXSW Festival

Hey folks!
At the moment it's South By Southwest time here in Austin! The whole city is packed with bands for one week. Last year they had about 1000 official shows scheduled, and at least as many unofficial shows. Meaning, every bar, bakery, club, every possible bandstand has a couple of bands a day. Pretty exiting! I am following my friends from THREE LEAF
to their shows, I shot a lot of pictures and we are working on a live video. Tomorrow I'm planning to play a rebel street gig, we gonna set up a mini drumset, guitar and bass amp right in the middle of it and rock out - let's see what comes of that!

Texas music

Howdy!

Texas is great, and so is music here. First, check out the video I shot with Sarah the day we were working on the AUDECY vocals:

Then on my last night in Dallas I was sitting in with a local jazz band. Really fun gig! It was nice to rip Steve's strat and little Fender tube amp to bebop tunes. I got two comments on my tone: First "you sound a little harsh there" Second: "man, you got some SCO goin' on...!"
I liked the second much better ;-) As I said it was fun and I got a lot of great feedback on my playing that night.

Then the next morning I took the bus to Austin, but not before Steve took me to the place downtown president Kennedy was shot. This is the office building where the sniper sat:

And now here in Austin the South by Southwest music festival is going on, that means music, party and great time for the next 10 days :) My friends from THREE LEAF had there first show for the festival on saturday. Really sweet gig! I will sit in with some bands aswell during the festival!

Dallas Texas !!!

Texas sky!

Hey there!

I've been in the states for about a week now, working with my friend Steve Satterwhite in his awesome Planet Satterwhite Studio in his house in Dallas. Flight was good, and I am happy to be back in the US !!!

I played on some tracks for his new record, and it's pretty swingin' - swinging the cowboy way, so get ready for the release in april/may! His latest record shows up internationally in all the western swing/americana charts so I'm really looking forward to see how this new record will go. Have a look in the studio:

Also while being at Steve's my friend Sarah was coming over to the studio. Last year we made this cool music project AUDECY (check it out on my website micha-schellhaas.com), and now we decided to re record the first track of our EP (as a start) and make a video to it! The work in the studio turned out great and a short video from our day recording will be online TOMORROW! So come back and check it out...

The day after tomorrow I will head on to Austin, hanging around at the South by Southwest festival and reunit with old friends :-) So far my time here has been fabulous and I am looking forward to the rest of my trip. Ah, and for tomorrow evening I was asked if I want to sit in with a local jazz band. Hell yeah!
